The whole area beneath the mattress lifts on gas struts, so you get the footprint of the bed back as storage. It swallows the bulky, awkward things drawers will not take, like spare duvets and a suitcase.
End-lift comes as standard. Side-lift is available to order, and it is usually the better choice if the bed sits against a wall.
